Visa Application

As you prepare for PACTALS 2027 in Tokyo, Japan (3–5 July 2027), we would like to remind international delegates who require a visa to enter Japan to apply as early as possible to allow sufficient time for processing.

Please refer to the following information and official resources for your visa application:

• Visit the official website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan (MOFA) for information on visa requirements and application procedures.
• Check whether your nationality is eligible for visa exemption for short-term stays in Japan. Japan has visa exemption arrangements with a number of countries and regions; eligibility and permitted length of stay vary depending on nationality and passport type.
• If you require a visa, please identify the appropriate visa category based on your nationality, purpose of travel and intended length of stay.
• We strongly recommend submitting your visa application well in advance of your planned travel dates.
• For the latest visa requirements and application procedures, please refer to the official Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan website.
• Documents that you may need for your visa application may include:
  • Valid passport
  • Completed visa application form
  • Recent passport photograph
  • Flight itinerary
  • Accommodation details
  • Congress invitation letter
  • Certificate or proof of employment, where applicable
  • Financial documents, where applicable
  • Other supporting documents as required by the Japanese Embassy or Consulate in your country/region

Please note that visa requirements, application procedures and processing times may vary depending on your nationality and country/region of residence. Delegates are advised to check the latest information with the Japanese Embassy or Consulate responsible for their place of residence.

International visitors are encouraged to use Visit Japan Web, the official online service provided by the Digital Agency of Japan, to complete arrival procedures such as immigration and customs declaration before arriving in Japan.

You may:

• Create an account and register your personal information.
• Register your planned trip to Japan.
• Complete the required immigration and customs declaration information online.
• Present the generated QR code when completing the relevant procedures at the airport.
